As a result of 30 years in the mental health field, Dr. Fitzgerald has formed a comprehensive approach reflecting Systems Theory, Neuroscience, Biological factors, Attachment & Developmental Theories and Psychoanalytic Theory. Integrating these theories together, Dr. Fitzgerald’s approach forms a comprehensive and individual approach to therapeutic treatment, expressed through a contemporary relational experience.

She has found that peoples’ problems are complex and that the intersubjective experience of each human being is unique to them. Dr. Fitzgerald’s approach results in a nuanced individualized approach to treatment that is specific to the person in treatment.

Numerous studies have concluded that a person’s choices and decisions are largely unconscious. Psychoanalytic theory helps to uncover unconscious fears, motivations, wishes, and desires that can be embedded in mental life and sabotage one’s ability to lead a vital, productive and full life.
