What is Psychoanalysis?

30609843_sPsychoanalysis is a more intense and more in-depth form of psychotherapy. First, we meet more frequently than other forms of psychotherapy. This creates more consistency, which allows us to have access to much deeper aspects of our unconscious mind. Our unconscious mind plays a big role in determining patterns of relating to the world and others. When we are unaware of how our unconscious mind motivates our actions it can cause pain and difficulty in everyday life. We might have a sense that we are repeating the same relational patterns in our lives and even though we don’t want it to happen, it keeps happening! When we see a repetitive pattern in our lives, the unconscious parts of the mind are most likely the culprit. The goal of Psychoanalysis is to help bring the unconscious into awareness and create deep, lasting and effective change.
